VIDEO: 'Pompeii' First Official Trailer Released
Last week, a teaser trailer for the movie Pompeii was released. Now, let me tell you all one thing...I had not heard of this movie until I saw the trailer. When Kit Harington (Milo) walked onto the screen at the beginning I literally screamed his name and reached for him. By the way, I'm a huge fan of him and his character Jon Snow on HBO's Game of Thrones. I have always enjoyed historical movies and lately with all the amazing new technology available to filmakers, it makes them able to create worlds from the past even more realistically. Just from the footage shown, I think this film is going to be incredible. I don't know if it will be able to contend with the greatness of say, 300, but only time will tell. One of the major draws for this movie will be all of the incredibly talented actors involved such as Jared Harris, Sasha Roiz, Kiefer Sutherland, and Carrie-Anne Moss. I am very excited to see this movie! The teaser trailer can be seen below!
Summary:
Kit Harington (Milo) |
Description: Set in 79 A.D., POMPEII tells the epic story of Milo, a slave turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Cassia, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.

VIDEO: 'Divergent' Teaser Trailer Released
Yesterday, during the MTV Video Music Awards Pre-show, Shailene Woodley and Theo James introduced the new Divergent teaser trailer.
You can check it out below!
It gives us a little bit of everything. It's not an actual trailer, so I can't judge it's cohesiveness. I think I'm more excited about the fact that we've finally been TEASED! This movie is really happening. Finally.
Only 7 more months to go!
The teaser looks really good, but I will reserve my judgement until I can see a full trailer that at least gives a little more detail into the plot.
I loved the teaser. It did its job -- making me more excited for the theatrical trailer as well as the movie itself!
Divergent hits theaters on March 21, 2014!

'Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters' First Stills Released
This morning, USA Today released online the first stills from the highly anticipated Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters movie. The teaser trailer will debut later today as well, so stay tuned for that. It will be posted on this site as soon as possible.
Zoey Deutch, left, Lucy Fry and Sarah Hyland, attend 'Vampire Academy,' a highly unusual high school. |
Vampire Academy director Mark Waters sums up his half-human, half-vamp heroine Rose with one word: moxie.
"She's got a lot of personality, and that fun, brassy energy is what makes Rose interesting," the filmmaker (Mean Girls) says of the character played by Zoey Deutch in the movie, adapted from the first book of Richelle Mead's young-adult series by Waters' brother Daniel (Heathers).
Zoey Deutch gets into character as Rose Hathaway |
"I love this story and Rose and every aspect of it just as much as any die-hard fan," Deutch says. "I'm stoked for people to see how we've remained loyal to the book but also injected some of our own colors into it."
In theaters Feb. 14, Vampire Academy centers on St. Vladimir's Academy, a school for kids with amazing powers, where Rose is being trained to be a supernatural bodyguard for her best friend Lissa (Lucy Fry), a Moroi princess with whom Rose shares a deep bond. The film begins with them being returned to St. Vladimir's after they've escaped, though dark forces are working within the academy to scare Lissa and leaving threatening messages like "Leave or die."

Mark Waters says Vampire Academy distinguishes itself from Twilight and similar YA fare a few ways.
The vampiric Moroi may live off blood and have magical powers but they're not bad — they're a refined royal culture who don't kill anybody. However, those who choose to go to the dark side and murder become undead immortal creatures known as Strigoi.
Also, while Harry Potter and other YA protagonists are wet behind the ears and have to have their new otherworldly situation explained to them, Rose is not an innocent — she's deeply embedded in this culture, and her aggressive personality is pretty much the polar opposite ofTwilight's Bella Swan.
Deutch, 18, says her sense of humor is as brutal as her fighting skills. "Someone who I, Zoey Deutch, would not want to mess with."
Rose may be a very pretty girl but she's got a lot of testosterone, Waters adds. "She has a wicked sense of humor and is openly sexual — when she likes a guy, she goes after him. It's not at all like the shy, demure creatures you'll meet in the YA novels."
And while both Rose and Lissa have love interests, Vampire Academy has more of a "sisters before misters" vibe than its ilk. "The person they're running after at the end of the movie is each other, not the guy," Waters says.
Still, Rose is a teenager with hormones and she's definitely got the hots for her mentor Dimitri, played by Russian actor Danila Kozlovsky.
"For Zoey, she was quite smitten with him in reality, and treating him in the god-like manner they refer to him in the book wasn't much of a stretch for her," Waters says.
The supporting cast also features Joely Richardson as the Moroi Queen Tatiana; Gabriel Byrne as Victor Dashkov, a man close to Rose and Lissa; Modern Family star Sarah Hyland as his geeky daughter Natalie, a friend to both girls; and Olga Kurylenko as Ellen Kirova, the headmistress who clashes with Rose and rules St. Vladimir's with an iron fist.
While Waters was loathe to return to a movie "where I heard locker doors slamming," he and his brother found ways to pump Vampire Academy with subversive comedy a la Mean Girls and Heathers.
"We have this great juicy drama dynamic, where the stakes are particularly high, but that didn't keep us from wanting to inject some of the humor that comes from teenagers trying to get along," Water says.
"You root for these characters like crazy till the bitter end," Deutch adds, "but there are still laughs throughout the whole journey."

REVIEW: Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld Book #13) by Kelley Armstrong
THIRTEEN (Women of the Otherworld Book #13)
Released: July 2012
By Kelley Armstrong
Summary:
Released: July 2012
By Kelley Armstrong
Summary:
A war is brewing—the first battle has been waged and Savannah Levine is left standing, albeit battered and bruised. She has rescued her half brother from supernatural medical testing, but he’s fighting to stay alive. The Supernatural Liberation Movement took him hostage, and they have a plan to expose the supernatural world to the unknowing.
Savannah has called upon her inner energy to summon spells with frightening strength, a strength she never knew she had, as she fights to keep her world from shattering. But it’s more than a matter of supernaturals against one another—both heaven and hell have entered the war; hellhounds, genetically modified werewolves, and all forces of good and evil have joined the fray.
Uniting Savannah with Adam, Paige, Lucas, Jaime, Hope, and other lost-but-notforgotten characters in one epic battle, for a grand series finale.
Review:
Thirteen is the final book in Kelley Armstrong's, Women of the Otherworld series. I was mailed a new paperback copy of this book to review by Penguin Group Publishing. The book is now available in paperback form from Plume! I found this book for the most part to be a great read though a bit fast paced with the action scenes. I really enjoyed the many narrators throughout the story and the return of many characters we've met throughout the series. The series wraps up pretty well, but I'd like to return to the Otherworld again in the future for sure.

MTV Exclusive: Author Cassandra Clare on the set of 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones'
From printed page to silver screen: It's been one wild ride for author Cassandra Clare and her 'Mortal Instruments' series." 'Surreal' is the word," the author told MTV News' Josh Horowitz while on the Toronto-based set of the urban fantasy. "My husband says it's like being at Disneyland where all of the rides are based on my book. It has gone through a long process."A long process, yes, but not an unexpected one for Clare, who has movie-making in her blood.
"My grandfather was a movie producer. I grew up in the film industry," she explained. "I always knew movies aren't really happening until they're actually filming, and I thought this will never really happen. And then when they got [director] Harald [Zwart] on board, I really started to believe it could because he has such a passionate commitment to the project, and he's a very emotion-focused director. And he really wanted to focus on the characters and their relationships to each other with the special effects second. And I thought that was a really great quality in a fantasy-film director."Clare did admit that it took some time for it to all really sink in, recalling her aha moment:"We were shooting in the subway, and they had closed off part of the subway for shooting, and I walked down the stairs to get to the set, and I saw Kevin Zegers in his full costume with runes and everything. And all the commuters were passing him by like they didn't see him. And I just thought, 'Oh my god. It's like we're in my book! He's here. He's invisible. It's like I've walked into a page of my book.' It was amazing."And Clare wasn't just an observer on set. Like many authors before her (Stephenie Meyer in "Twilight" comes to mind), she'll make a cameo in the movie based on her best-selling series(hence her garb during our interview)."I don't actually wear the cat ears all the time," she said. "I'm having a cameo at a very special party in the middle of the movie. I'm very excited about it."For the uninitiated, the film follows Brooklyn teen Clary Fray, who after her mother's disappearance turns to an ancient race of demon destroyers known as Shadowhunters for help. Teaming with the impossibly beautifully and infinitely snarky Jace Wayland, Clary delves deeper into their mysterious world, learning she may be more connected to it than she ever could have imagined.Actress Lily Collins plays the lead role of Clary, and as she told MTV News, she was pleased to have the author on hand while filming."She's so lovely," Collins enthused of Clare. "She's been here for a couple weeks just to take it all in. Just to have her support on this is so amazing. We're really lucky to have her on set. Just to see her smiling and be part of this process. Especially for her, this is huge. To have something you've created brought to the screen and have people so passionate behind it. It must be an absolute dream for her."
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hits theaters on August 21st!
