Top 13 Favorite Movies of 2013 Vlog!

With the New Year fast approaching, I decided to do a vlog about my Top 13 Favorite Movies of 2013! I had quite a time choosing what movies to put on the list and an even harder time ranking them, but it was a lot of fun. Check it out below and let me know what movies were favorites for some of you. There are several more movies that I loved and thought of after filming this that deserve to be mentioned. Those movies are; Pacific Rim, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Man of Steel, Ender's Game, Rush, About Time, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

My 2013 Fangirl Favorites

So this year has been FULL of things that I've fangirled over. That I've fallen in love with. Hard. And I'm so eager to see what 2014 will bring me! I'm already anxiously waiting on ONE particular book (**cough**City of Heavenly Fire**cough**).

Since today is the LAST day of 2013, I thought I would share with you all some of my favorite fangirl things. Stuff that got me all gooey inside and gave me all of the feels!

So let's get to it!

Book: Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, Book #1) by Kresley Cole

I've read a total of 71 books in 2013 and I decided to challenge myself to select my all-time favorite book of the year. It was hard, but I did it.

Poison Princess just had everything I needed in a book and more. Fantasy, Tension, Angst, Betrayal, Romance, a kick-ass female, and a hot guy. Kresley Cole kept me on the edge of my seat countless times throughout this book. And it's only the beginning of the series!

Goodreads Description

She could save the world—or destroy it.
Sixteen-year-old Evangeline "Evie" Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they're still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can't do either alone.
With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can't totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?
As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it's not always clear who is on which side.

Original Soundtrack (Movie): Disney's "Frozen"

Ever since I saw this film on Thanksgiving Day, I cannot get the music out of my head. It had such beautifully written songs that accompany the film so well. But even when you aren't watching the film, listening to the songs bring you right back to the emotion you felt when seeing the film.

Very catchy tunes. Emotional and empowering. This Disney soundtrack does not fail to make you smile, cry, and laugh. It's absolutely fantastic.

Where To Buy: Amazon

Movie: Disney's "Frozen"

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this movie. It's topped Tangled for me, and I'm surprised I'm saying that because I really enjoyed that movie.

But there is something about this one that I could relate to so much. The love between two sisters. Having to meet such high expectations -- of your parents, of your community, of yourself. Being alone and isolated and afraid. But then learning about the power of love. It's just an extremely beautiful story. Tears, smiles, and laughter all around.

Not to mention that I saw it in 3D and it was simply stunning. Such gorgeous graphics. Well done, Disney.

Television Show: Sleepy Hollow

FOX has another hit on its hands with this show. Sleepy Hollow is the only new TV show that I'm still watching. I've actually given up on everything else. But I have NO intention of letting this show slip through my fingers. It's that good!

The telling of urban legend and myths being brought to life on screen is awesome and the cast was brilliantly selected. I love everyone.

There's the perfect amount of comedy, creepiness, crime drama, and mystery that keeps you wanting more. I cannot wait to see where the story leads us next because season one is knocking my socks off!

Those are my fangirl favorites for 2013! Would love to know what some of yours were. Leave a comment below!

Happy New Year and I shall see you in 2014!

Be warned though, if any of you have yet to read the book, the Thorin Oakenshield video contains spoilers for There And Back Again.

Book Review: 'The Hobbit' by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Hobbit
by J.R.R. Tolkien
Released: 1937

SUMMARY:

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.Written for J.R.R. Tolkien’s own children,The Hobbit met with instant critical acclaim when it was first published in 1937. Now recognized as a timeless classic, this introduction to the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, the wizard Gandalf, Gollum, and the spectacular world of Middle-earth recounts of the adventures of a reluctant hero, a powerful and dangerous ring, and the cruel dragon Smaug the Magnificent.

REVIEW:

For several years now I have had The Hobbit on my TBR list and finally it has been taken off of it. I very much enjoyed reading this book just as much as watching the movies so far. Let me go ahead and tell you all that the book is quite different in many ways from the films, but I think that it is quite alright. One of the many things I enjoyed in the book is that it is from Bilbo Baggins' perspective. He  is such a clever and strong character and I really connected with him while reading it. Thorin is not as angry as he is in the movies and it took me a little while to get used to his book personality, but I loved him all the same. The characters that were much the same as in the films were the rest of the dwarves and Gandalf the Grey. The elves were a nice treat as always and I really enjoyed all of the time Thorin and Company spent in Rivendell with them, but not so much in Mirkwood as they were all prisoners except for Bilbo. Onto Beorn and I have to say that I liked his character so much in the book, that I wish his character was more like the book version in the film, so that everyone would understand how awesome his character is. We don't really get a whole lot of time with the Elven King Thranduil, but he is still a very intense character as in the films. A very big difference between the book and the films is that there is no ancient grudge between the Elves of Mirkwood and the Dwarves of Erebor as there is in the films. I do not think it makes a change in the conclusion of the story, but it is an interesting difference. Bard the Bowman is not as serious in the book as in the films, but he was still great all the same. I do not want to give all of the story away, so I will leave you all with some advice...READ THIS BOOK! Seriously, it is such a treat and I plan on reading it again.

VIDEO: Can The ‘Teen Wolf’ Twins Be Trusted Enough To Be In Scott's Pack?

To trust or not to trust — when it comes to “Teen Wolf” twins Aiden and Ethan, that is the question. As soon as the mysterious, shape-shifting werewolves showed up to Beacon Hills, they tried to run Scott and his crew off course (quite literally, in fact, at a cross-country track meet), and when it was revealed they were doing evil villain Deucalion‘s bidding, they were officially written off as bad seeds. But gradually they worked their way into the hearts of Lydia and Danny, and when we last left them it seemed the two had turned over a new leaf and left the darkness behind, so do they deserve a second chance?
In an interview with HappyCool, Executive Producer Jeff Davis spoke to the twins’ change of heart, and said it’ll be up to “True Alpha” Scott to decide whether to make room in his new pack for BHHS’ most recent transfers. Scott’s uniquely human-friendly clique will include Lydia, Stiles, and Allison as members, Davis said, but as for the supernatural Ethan and Aiden, the jury is still out.
“The question arises…what do they have to do to redeem themselves?” Davis said. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to find out: Davis added that Scott will make up his mind about Aiden and Ethan within the first few episodes.

Article was found at MTV and Video at HappyCool
Do any of you think that Scott should trust the twins and let them join his pack? Let us know in the comments below!

NBC's "The Sing-Off" is BACK!!!

NBC's 'The Sing-Off' is back! This is the show's first season since it's hiatus (cancellation) in 2011. Labeled, as Season 4, the show is bigger and better. With newly added production from One Three Media, the same company that produces the hugely popular talent show 'The Voice', this new season promises to be a big one.

Season 3's female judge, Sara Bareilles, was replaced by recording artist, Jewel (pictured above), but everyone else returned for the fourth time -- Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Nick Lachey (as the show's continued host).

On a personal note, I am extremely glad that this show's potential and necessity was recognized by the right people. With the success of Pentatonix and the hit movie 'Pitch Perfect', one cannot deny the power of a cappella music.

This season of "The Sing-Off" brings us ten uniquely sounding groups from all walks of life and various parts of the country (even Puerto Rico). From Pop to Country to Latin music. From the biggest of cities to the smallest of towns. There is a lot of diversity on this show and I'm loving it. Last night, December 9th, marked the start of the new season. And there has already been one elimination, which I will get to.

Here are this season's contestants (and I will note which one was eliminated last night).

1. VoicePlay (Orlando, FL)

2. Calle Sol (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico)

 3. Element (New York City, NY)

4. Filharmonic (Los Angeles, CA)

5. Home Free (Minneapolis, MN)

6. Ten (Dallas, TX)

7. The Princeton Footnotes (Princeton, NJ)

8. Vocal Rush (Oakland, CA)

 9. Street Corner Renaissance (Los Angeles, CA)

10. acoUstiKats (Lexington, KY)

These are definitely some talented groups, but some more developed than the others. And it definitely showed last night. While I do not have a clear favorite at this point, I can definitely say that some groups are better than others. I can't wait to see the development of them all.

After last night's episode, the Princeton Footnotes were sent home. They were in the bottom two with VoicePlay. The two groups battled it out to N'Sync's "Bye Bye Bye" which, to be honest, had either of the groups done that song instead of their original selections, I would have liked them better.

Overall, I am STOKED for these season. So much potential, so much opportunity for growth. 'The Sing-Off' is back! And it's better than ever!

Favorite FanVids Full of FEELS

Every now and then we all come across fanvids that cause us to tear up or give us chills. In this post I will be sharing some of my recent favorite fanvids like that and why they fall into the Full of FEELS category. Enjoy!

In this Teen Wolf fanvid we are taken back through some of the most sad and shocking moments in the Season 3A Finale Episode. The color tones used in the video set the atmosphere perfectly. The song could not have been better picked to give us chills.

In this Being Human UK fanvid we watch John Mitchell's struggle to hold onto his humanity as a vampire and ultimately having George stake him in the end, so that he can't hurt anyone else. The black and white coloring with only touches of red here and there, helps us to imagine the human world through Mitchell's eyes. The song is so sad and you can't help crying again about his death.

In this The Vampire Diaries fanvid we see Klaus kill Tyler Lockwood's mom, Carol. What is so sad is that we see some of the best and and one of the most worst moments between Tyler and her. During this she begs Klaus for Tyler's life before he drowns her. The song used gives us goosebumps while watching this video.

In this Game of Thrones fanvid we see the many terrible acts and deaths on the show and the aftermath. The whole tone of the show is felt while watching this and you can't help watching it another time even though it's sad. The song chosen is so accurate and it adds to the FEELS in this video.

In this Merlin fanvid we see a lot of the most key moments in both Merlin and Arthur's lives. Their lives were surrounded by such tragic loss and the show ends in tragedy. The song was the perfect choice to set the gloomy tone of the video, plain and simple.

What did you all think of these videos and what are some of your favorite fanvids full of feels? Let us know in the comments below!

RAVE REVIEWS for the Midnight Fire Series!
"The writing is effortlessly mind blowing. I could not put this entire series down. Once you're hooked, you won't either because it'll eat you up not knowing what happened! And then you'll pick a team like I did and you'll fall in love with all the characters and you'll want all the bad guys to die horribly! Just trust me when I say it really is your loss to miss out on this series! It's a blaze of glory!" - Happy Tales and Tails Blog

"Kaitlyn Davis writes some of the best action scenes I have come across in a young adult book; they are fast paced and so well delivered making this more than just a silly romance." - Reflections of a Bookworm

"The only downside to this series, is that it ended. But the ending was beautiful." - My Seryniti

"Kira isn't a human girl who is one dimensional and in love with a vampire. She's a well-thought out character who comes to life from the pages and steals into your heart. Read the books. Do it." - Urban Girl Reader

"I love and hate how fast of a read this was! I love it because I couldn't get enough of it and hate it because once I finished I wanted more!" - I Just Wanna Sit Here And Read

"I really enjoyed Ms Davis's writing, I was riveted throughout and was eager to see what would happen - there was drama, danger, action and romance that was wonderfully detailed and described." - Obsession With Books

"You'll make friends with Kira, choose sides with Tristan and Luke, and fall in love with the story at heart about a girl with so bright a future....even shades aren't gonna cut it." - Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers

Ignite Prologue:

Kira watched as he languidly stood up, flexing his muscles as though he had just awakened from a long dream. He stretched his arms over his head and cracked the bones in his neck before finally settling his gaze on her. She hardly recognized him, the boy she had fallen in love with. Where minutes before there had been light and emotion in his eyes, there was only a black hole, a seemingly endless abyss. Kira had never seen him look at her that way, like less than food, like vermin, even since the first time they had met.
"Aren’t you going to run?" He asked with sinister humor coloring his words. The smirk on his face may as well have been a knife cutting through her heart. The darkness had always called him, but Kira had always thought that being with her would be enough to keep him from crossing over. She saw now that he had surrendered to his nature and for the first time she felt real fear when he looked at her.
Kira stepped backwards on shaky feet, trying to digest the question. She didn’t have an answer. How could she turn her back on him and run away? The man she loved was trying to kill her. There were no options. Could she forget it allall the nights they had shared kissing and swapping secretsand fight to kill? Or, would she run and admit that there was no hope that he would return to her?
Kira said his name and reached out her hand, searching one last time for the man she had lost.
"Yes, honey." The word hit her like a slap in the face as it rolled off of his tongue drenched in sarcasm.
Kira looked up at the sun, still hidden behind the shadow of the moon, and sprinted into the tree line behind her. She couldn’t give up on him now. But, when the eclipse was over, maybe she would finally find the strength to fight.

About the Author
I've always been a writer. I grew up duct taping my novels together, started writing complete manuscripts in high school and studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduating, I decided it was finally time to actually give my dream career a chance. So, of course, I started writing a young adult paranormal romance series -- and no, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon. I've been a true paranormal supporter for my entire life! I blame my obsession almost completely on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my all-time favorite television show. And, before you ask: Yes, I own every season... even the post WB ones! I especially challenge anyone to watch the first three seasons and not fall in love with Angel, securing a lifelong love of vampires! Other culprits of my paranormal obsession are some of my favorite authors: JK Rowling, Raymond Feist, Meg Cabot, Richelle Mead, Lynne Ewing and Tamora Pierce.

As Matthew’s feelings for Becky grow, he’s torn between guilt and heartache over his deceased fiancĂ©e. Can Becky break through his wall and help him heal?

Note: Sexual Content

When he probed with more questions about what I looked for in query letters, I told him I liked romance novels and I basically looked for potential book boyfriends.

“Book boyfriends?” He chuckled out loud. As I watched, his chest moved to the rhythm of his laugh. “Really?” He took his last bite and chugged his coffee.

“Yes…really.” I had already finished my plate since I was too nervous to talk.

“Is that like for people who can’t get one in real life?” He was totally amused by this notion.

“No…silly,” I giggled. “Readers read books to help them escape from the daily routine of life. Many of these romance books have a swoon-worthy, gorgeous guy with really nice abs and a six pack, who can deliver wild, hot sex.” Just the thought alone made me turn red and I froze when he gave me a heated look. Then, his eyes concentrated on my lips, shifted to my breasts, then back up to my eyes when I said ‘wild, hot sex.’ I just described him and what he could potentially do.

Gravitating toward me, his eyes locked lustfully on mine. His lips were just inches away as they parted to speak and I didn’t know how he got so close to me. “I would like to be your book boyfriend,” he said with the hottest sound that could sing out of his lustrous, lick-able mouth. The puff of his breath on my lips sizzled way down to my sex. He reached out to my face, his thumb sensually sliding, feather light to touch my bottom lip with one long, slow stroke. As I watched his tongue glide over his bottom lip at the same time, I quivered beyond control.

Completely dumbfounded, I sat there staring at him and in my mind, I had already taken off my clothes for him. Blinking because that was all I could do, I wanted to say yes, but my pride and my head knew better and stopped me. Suddenly, he broke his gaze and it felt like he had just dumped ice water over my head. “Is that what a book boyfriend would say and do?” he chuckled as he picked up our plates and took them to the kitchen.

What just happened? I was almost certain my face was deep red, because I felt it down to my toes.

Check out the NEW cover to SOMETHING GREAT...
